<미세먼지 측정을 위해 개발한 무인 항공기의 모습>

 

(삼광백과사전)-3월 20일(수) 국내에서 미세먼지가 연일 이슈가 되고 있으며, 이를 측정하고 조사하기 위해 한반도 미세먼지의 이동 경로를 파악할 수 있는 항공기가 이달부터 운항할 예정이라는 내용을 살펴보겠습니다.

 

미세먼지 프로젝트 사업단은 금일 서울 LW컨벤션에서 ‘추진경과 공유회’를 열고 “대기에서 오염물질의 이동, 반응, 생성 과정 등을 파악할 수 있는 중형 항공기 개조를 완료했다”는 입장을 밝혔습니다. 국립환경과학원은 이달부터 이 항공기로 미세먼지 측정을 시작할 예정이며, 서해 상공을 비행하여 미세먼지의 이동경로 추적을 수행함과 더해 산업공단 지역의 대기 질을 집중적으로 조사하는 데도 이용합니다. 또한, 초 미세먼지 생성 메커니즘을 정밀하게 규명할 수 있는 중급형 연구시설 ‘스모그 챔버’등 심층 연구 기반도 구축하여 대기 중의 미세먼지가 생성, 성장하는 화학 반응을 정밀한 추적을 수행 할 예정입니다.

 

미세먼지 추적 항공기 개발과 아울러 미세먼지 저감 기술 개발 성과도 발표 되었습니다. 미세먼지 생성의 원인물질 중 질소산화물과 황산화물을 각각 90% 이상씩 제거할 수 있는 촉매와 탈황제 개발이 대표 사례이며, 과학기술정보통신부, 환경부, 보건복지부는 2020년까지 약 500억원에 달하는 연구비를 투입할 예정입니다. 과학기술정보통신부에서는 “미세먼지는 국민의 건강하고 안전한 생활을 위협하는 문제로, 과학기술적 해결 방법이 필요한 상황이다. 과학 기술은 경제 발전뿐 아니라 삶의 질을 높이는 데에도 그 역할을 다할 것이다.”는 포부를 밝혔습니다.

 

미세먼지로 인해 삶의 환경이 악화가 진행되고 있는 상황에서 관련 기관에서는 사람들에게 맑은 하늘과 공기를 되찾아 주기 위해 끊임없이 노력하고 있습니다. 하루 빨리 미세먼지에 대응하여 건강한 삶을 되찾을 수 있기를 바라겠습니다.
