[Vietnam, March 7-9, 2025] – Global action camera manufacturer GoPro is reviewing potential partners for establishing a production base in Vietnam.

As part of this initiative, GoPro’s Vice President, Ray Faga, personally visited Samkwang’s Vietnam division.

The visit was attended by key personnel from Samkwang’s Vietnam division, including Business Unit Director Song Jong-deuk, as well as representatives from the Development Team, New Business Team, and Sales & Procurement Team.

GoPro’s New Production Base… "Vietnam Has the Advantage"

During the meeting, GoPro representatives stated that while the company currently manufactures its products in China, they are exploring the possibility of relocating production to other countries due to tariff issues. Vietnam is being evaluated as one of the strongest candidates, and this visit to Samkwang’s Vietnam division was part of that assessment.

A GoPro representative commented, “We are still in the early stages of laying the groundwork for potential entry into Vietnam. Various options are under consideration, but Vietnam has emerged as a key candidate.”

Samkwang Vina: "Ready to Meet GoPro’s Requirements"

Samkwang’s Vietnam division expressed confidence in its ability to serve as a reliable partner for GoPro, stating that they are fully prepared to optimize their production lines to align with GoPro’s requirements. A representative from the Vietnam division stated, “If we establish a partnership with GoPro, we will do our best to fulfill our role as a trusted partner.” They also expressed hope that this meeting would lead to a positive and cooperative relationship in the future.

Through this visit, both companies had the opportunity to assess each other’s capabilities and potential for collaboration. Further discussions are expected to take place based on this initial meeting.
