[Tuesday, November 4, 2025] Samkwang Co., Ltd. executives and employees visited the Korea Textile Development Institute (KTDI) in Daegu for a working-level cooperation meeting. This meeting marked the first official working-level gathering since the signing of the five-party MOU last October, featuring in-depth discussions on the direction of cooperation between the two institutions and the identification of joint research projects. Attending the meeting were Samkwang Global AD Division Sunbaek Jeong, Advisor Chungeum Yang, Global Development Center Executive Vice President Youngjun Jeong, and employees from the Development Team and New Business Team. KTDI attendees included President Seongman Kim, Division Head Jaehoon Jeong, Division Head Junsik Son, and Team Leader Jeonga Son. The meeting began with a tour of key research facilities, including the Eco-Friendly Materials Development Center, Testing and Analysis Center, and Super Fiber Development Center. This was followed by working-level discussions based on a new materials R&D proposal prepared by Samkwang. During the meeting, Samkwang shared its experience applying new materials in automotive parts technology and the mobile/electronics sector. It proposed new items and business opportunities that could be combined with KTDI's technologies. They also discussed specific cooperation directions, including reviewing possibilities for linking with national projects, discovering joint items based on Samkwang's technology and business needs, and proposing new items utilizing KTDI's proprietary technologies. KTDI shared its current status in new material development and its proprietary technologies, introducing key technical capabilities such as flake recycling extrusion equipment, fiber-reinforced composite material technology, and biodegradable eco-friendly fillet technology. Following this working-level meeting, both institutions plan to pursue follow-up technical meetings between personnel in each field and continue reviewing joint project planning and product development. Through this collaboration, Samkwang aims to strengthen its R&D capabilities in eco-friendly new materials and composite materials, taking a further step toward securing global competitiveness based on sustainable technological innovation.
